The Joseph D. Mendoza Debate Suite
Thanks to the hard work of Lee College President Dr. Dennis Brown, Vice President Dr. Cathy Kemper, and former Academic Dean Dr. Jeff Thies, the Mendoza Debate Society is proud to have a permanent home in John Britt Hall 107 & 109. These rooms were once used by our program's namesake, Dan Mendoza, and allow Lee College debaters to maintain a permanent base of operations to help further its standing as one of the top IPDA programs in the nation.
JBH 109 serves as our Team Room, with classroom-style seating for 16 and performance space, a casual conference area in the rear of the room, and ample storage for team gear. JBH 107 will serve as both an instructional classroom with seating for 28 as well as a taping suite with raised stage for debates and speeches. Thanks to a generous grant from the Lee College Student Activities Office and the Lee College Office of the President, we have several trophy cabinets immediately outside these rooms to display some of the "hardware" brought back to Baytown by the Lee College Debate Team.
John Britt Hall, named for long-time Honors Director John Britt, is home to the Lee College Debate Team, the Lee College Honors Program, the Lee College Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the Lee College International Studies Program, as well as academic offices and the offices for both the Academic and Technical Deans.
